Cricket fans and players themselves have been waiting for this day for the past few days. Now Monday, the auction day has come up. The Women’s Premier League tournament is scheduled to begin next month. For this, 5 teams were auctioned in January. Since then the auction of the players was awaited.
The first season of women’s cricket league is going to start with this. A league for women players has been awaited for the past few years. But last year there was good news for women players that the league is going to start from 2023. For this, 5 teams of the league were auctioned for 4669.99 crores. The five teams include Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Lucknow and Bangalore.
409 players were shortlisted
Women players from around the world have already shown great interest in the league. About 1525 women players from home and abroad had registered their names. BCCI has prepared a list of 409 players shortlisted from these names. The auction of the players will be held today on Monday.
Out of 409 players, 246 players are from Indian cricket, while 163 players are foreign cricketers. 8 players are participating in the auction from associate countries. Among the shortlisted players, 202 players are capped and 199 are uncapped.
The player with the most expensive base prize
Among the shortlisted players, the base price of 24 players has been kept at 50 lakh rupees. These players include Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice captain Smriti Mandhana, Under 10 World Cup champion captain Shefali Verma including 10 Indian players in this list. Apart from this, 14 foreign players are included whose base prize is 50 lakh rupees. Apart from this, there are 30 players with a base price of Rs 40 lakh.
