League of Legends has been around since 2009 and exclusive skins have been around since the earliest days. As such, the skins that were rare back then have only gotten rarer in the years since. There are several groups of rare League skins from the early days, especially since the vast majority of players weren’t playing at the time and couldn’t get them.

These early skins include those that were available to purchase the game at launch in 2009. Yes, there was a time when you League of Legends, there was even a deluxe edition. These include Silver Kayle, Young Ryze and Black Alistar. Other early skins that were available for a limited time include Rusty Blitzcrank and UFO Corki, which were only available in 2010 and were completely discontinued in 2014.

Perhaps the oldest and rarest skin of them all is the King Rammus skin. This skin doesn’t change much about Rammus, other than giving him a color scheme that could get Riot in trouble with Nintendo. The skin was obtained by participating in the game’s beta, something that is a little bit modern League fan base was going around.

A common thing in gaming communities is players being rewarded with in-game items for attending real-world events. Gamers love their conferences and many game publishers hold events at these conferences. Over the years, Riot has attended its fair share of expos and cons and brought back some exclusive skins as a reward for those in attendance.

Specifically, three skins were distributed on PAX Prime from 2009 to 2011. They were Pax Twisted Fate, Pax Jax and Pax Sivir. Since these were only available to those who attended, the skins are extremely rare in the community.

The only chance players had at a later date was in 2017, when PAX Prime participants got Neo Pax Sivir, a remake of the original Pax Sivir skin. This skin was also available through the store, but only until the end of 2017.

There are many other skins that are now or almost impossible to obtain, from various sources. For example, there is a Victorious Skin every year. This is a special single champion skin awarded to players who reach Gold rank in a season. If you missed those when they were available, they’re gone for good.

You also have all items in the Legacy Vault. This cosmetic, where many limited edition skins have gone, is only available for purchase during special events, such as Worlds. Not all items are available through the Legacy Vault, such as all of the skins mentioned above. Still, there are many extremely rare skins on this list, just waiting for a chance to reappear.
