Tears Of The Kingdom switch is a real beauty

We hope you’ve saved your Christmas money because we’ve found something you’re sure to want to spend it all on. Limited edition Nintendo Switches are everywhere, and now there could be a new one.

Of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom there might be an all-new Switch to play on in 2023, with this supposedly limited edition console that lets you return to Hyrule in style.

What is the Tears Of The Kingdom switch?

On the Famiiboard forum, user Kysen shared images of the supposed Tears of the Kingdom-themed Switch OLED (via VGC). Remember that 2017’s Breath of the Wild is one of the Switch’s flagship titles, it makes sense for Nintendo to push the boat out with its sequel.

It’s unclear where the OP got these photos from and if they actually have the Switch in their possession, but it looks like a suitably glossy affair. On the other hand, we should take all this with a grain of salt as there is a chance that it is an elaborate fake.

The theme switch has gold joy-cons with a Zelda-like patterns, while the white dock is decorated with the franchise’s Tri-Force. From the looks of it, this special Switch doesn’t include an actual copy of the game, which means it could come out sooner Tears of the Kingdom‘s May 12 release.

What happened to the Switch Pro

Unfortunately, the unveiling of the Tears of the Kingdom Switch is another nail in the coffin for the mythical Switch Pro. We’ve discussed the idea of a Switch sequel a million times before, and while specs are leaked all the time, they’ve come to nothing.

Because the hardware has improved so much in the last five years, there are concerns Tears of the Kingdom will struggle on the Switch. Nintendo isn’t known for its powerful hardware, but we’ll have to see how Tears of the Kingdom rates on what is a relatively old console by today’s standards.

Limited edition Switches are a dime a dozen, with everything from Animal Crossing: New Horizons until Pokemon Scarlet & Violet get their own versions. Most of us have a Switch by now, so will a few nice scribbles and a new color combination really be enough to get you out of your money?
