Accused hatched conspiracy by sitting near mosque: Police claim

The accused gathered in violation of the prohibitory order against unlawful assembly
MUMBAI: A police investigation found that the accused in the case of stone pelting at the Ramnavmi procession in Malwani area of ​​Malad had hatched an alleged plot of violence by sitting near a mosque. Malwani Police arrested more than 20 accused involved in this incident which took place on the night of March 30 in Malwani. A police officer said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against more than 200 people in this case. On April 2, the Malvani police team probing the Ramnavami night violence case recorded the statements of an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer and an official from the Malvani police station. In the statement of both the officers, it appeared that the arrested and absconding accused in the case committed deliberate acts of violence, the accused gathered near a mosque in violation of the Prohibition Order against Unlawful Assemblies and conspired to commit the crime. As a result Section 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code was added following a directive from a senior officer. (PTI)
