Rishabh Pant is now out of the IPL 2023 season after sustaining injuries in a serious car accident. Now Delhi Capitals are facing difficulties in finding a replacement for Pant.
Sourav Ganguly gives update on Rishabh Pant injury
Indian team’s star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant met with a serious accident last December. Pant was seriously injured in an early morning accident near Roorkee. Delhi Capitals IPL Cricket The team is also looking for an alternative to Pant. However, their cricket director Sourav Ganguly has made a big statement in between. They have given an update saying how much time it may take for Pant to return.
Rishabh Pant is not available for the Delhi Capitals squad for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. He has been out of cricket for a long time due to injuries, meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are searching for a replacement of a player of Pant’s caliber. However, in the meantime, the former captain of Team India has given an update.
Ganguly shows how long it will take to return
Ganguly said of Pant, “I spoke to him many times. Obviously he is going through a tough phase after injuries and surgery and I wish him the best. In a year or a few years, maybe he will play for India again.” The question was then asked, would he like to see Pant spend some time with the team during the IPL to help him in his recovery as well? Ganguly said, “Don’t know. We will see.”
Who will be handed the helm?
Delhi Capitals have not yet decided on handing over the captaincy. Sourav Ganguly is also yet to announce a decision on the wicketkeeper as Pant’s replacement. Team Abhishek Porel and native Saurashtra player Sheldon Jackson could not decide who was more useful.
Talking about the captaincy, David Warner can be chosen for this. While Gujarati player Akshar Patel can be seen in the role of vice captain of the Delhi team.
The study session was held in Kolkata
Speaking further, Ganguly said, “IPL is still a month away and the season has started. It is difficult to bring all the players together as they play as much cricket as they do. Four-five players are playing Irani Trophy. Sarfaraz has injured his finger. There is no fracture in his finger. He should be fine for the IPL”.
A three-day camp was organized in Kolkata under the guidance of Ganguly, in which Prithvi Shaw, Ishant Sharma, Chetan Sakaria, Manish Pandey and other local players participated.
