The second match of the double header day of IPL 2023 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first in the match played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Batting first, Mumbai set a target of 172 runs against Bangalore losing 7 wickets. Mumbai got off to a poor start, though later Tilak Verma took charge and single-handedly put Mumbai up a challenging score on the scoreboard. Bangalore won by 8 wickets in 16.2 overs against Mumbai thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Plelis. Thus, the season has started brilliantly.
Bangalore started well against a challenging scoreboard. Scored 53 runs in the power play and laid a solid foundation to get closer to the target. The Bangalore captain said at the time of the toss that it will be difficult to bowl while saving the target due to fog. Similarly, Mumbai bowlers are finding it difficult to control the runs.
Kohli-Plessis half century
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis started the game brilliantly by coming in as openers. Both men continued to hit fours and sixes every now and then from the start. There was a great synergy between the two as they rotated each other’s strikes. Rohit Sharma tried 6 bowlers one after the other, but he could not get success. Faf du Plessis played a brilliant innings and scored 73 runs. He played this innings with 5 fours and 6 sixes off 43 balls. Kohli and Plessis had a partnership of 148 runs. Mumbai were in search of a wicket and Arshad Khan finally managed to grab the wicket. He sent Baglore opener and skipper Faf du Plessis back to the pavilion on the fifth ball of the 15th over.
