MUMBAI: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mumbai on Friday, a police presence was put in place in Champato from Thursday night.
As Modi is scheduled to come to Mumbai to flag off the CSMT-Shirdi and CSMT-Solapur Vande Bharat trains, a tight police presence was arranged in the premises around the venue of the event. 1700 police officers will keep vigil during the Prime Minister’s visit to Mumbai.
According to a senior official, 280 officers of the rank of sub-inspector and above have been deployed in the security system. An Additional Commissioner, three Deputy Commissioners of Police and 11 Assistant Commissioners of Police will oversee the security arrangements.
Apart from this, State Reserve Police Force, Riot Control Police and Quick Response Teams (QRT) along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Dog Squad will also be deployed, the official said.
Meanwhile, keeping in mind the security arrangements, police patrolling at CSMT was increased from Thursday afternoon itself. Verification was being done on platforms with the help of dog squad.
