I am not accused: request to media/police in WhatsApp status
Mumbai: A head constable in Mumbai Suburban Railway allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a bridge between Digha and Thane railway stations and jumped under the train. He jumped from the bridge between Digha and Thane railway stations in the Central Railway and jumped under the train. The deceased has been identified as Vaibhav Kadam (Head Constable). Railway police registered a case and further investigation was conducted, police said.
Kadam’s body was found on the railway tracks between Nilje and Taloja railway stations. Railway police have registered a case of suicide. On further investigation conducted by the police, the police found a WhatsApp status on his mobile, which says in Marathi that my only request to the police and the media is that I am not an accused.
Kadam was in the security team of then government minister Jitendra Awad.
Police constable Kadam was stationed under the security guard of former minister Jitendra Awad during the beating of engineer Anant Karmuse. It is said that investigation is also going on along with the interrogation of Vaibhav in the Anant Karmuse case. The exact cause in the suicide case has not been ascertained, police said. A man named Anant Karmuse from Thane allegedly posted a morphed picture of the then minister Jitendra Awad on Facebook. Awad was also arrested in the case of Anant’s abduction and assault and Awad was granted bail by the Thane Sessions Court. Anant, 40, alleged that on the night of April 5, some police took him to Awad’s bungalow and beat him up even in the presence of Pradhan, he claimed. The possibility that Vaibhav Kadam was murdered in this case has been expressed, sources said.
