Sea vigilance mechanics and how to play – Genshin Impact The Exquisite Night Chimes event

Access the Watch the Sea challenge by talking to Huixing at The Crux: The Alcor, which is parked close to the Guyun Stone Forest. There are two types of challenges: Rolling waves (co-op) and calm waters (solo).

The mechanics are the same, scores are cumulative in both modes and you can choose to play whatever you want. If you’re not very good at controlling the Waverider, we recommend playing Billowing Waves. In addition, there are three challenge cards that you can access random.

Challenge coins

Your goal is to collect as many Challenge Coins as possible while keeping your Waverider alive. On some maps, the challenge coins are replaced by lanterns. You have to collect lanterns to match the fireworks to get challenge coins, while lanterns of different shape serve as obstacles that can damage your ship.

Waverider HP

The Waverider HP bar changes to hearts during the challenge. If you encounter an obstacle, one heart will disappear. If you stay in dangerous whirlpools, the hearts will also become exhausted over time. The mechanics for the two game modes are a bit different:

  • Tranquil waters – Six hearts, the challenge ends when they are all gone.
  • Wavy waves – Three hearts. When they run out, all of your Challenge Coins will disappear and you won’t be able to collect anything for a few seconds.

Techniques

You can win Techniques by picking up Prop Lamps, which look like floating squares. You can only obtain certain techniques in each challenge area, but activating them will allow you to strengthen your Waverider, attract coins and speed up your ship. Use the Basic skill to activate a technique. Once activated, you need to pick up another Prop Lamp to get a random technique.

All feasible techniques appear on screen after a challenge card is randomly selected. Be sure to check them out and remember the corresponding icons to help you with the challenge.

Rewards

Rewards are calculated based on the total cumulative score about all the challenges you’ve played. For example, if you get 500 points in one challenge and 1,000 points in another, your total score is 1,500. You can claim them in the Watch the Seas section of the Event Details.
