Genshin Impact Kaeya

What is the best Genshin Kaeya build?

Kaeya is an accessible, free-to-play unit in the early game and a versatile sub-DPS reaction enabler. It requires little energy to charge, consistent Cryo application and is free for all new players, making it a reliable part of your roster from the start.

He excels most at freeze compositions, making the most of his passive A4 Glacial Heart, first constellation (if you have one), cryo-resonance, and Blizzard Strayer buff. He fits in well Genshin Impact’s Chongyun, and reaches his highest personal damage ceiling in said freeze teams.

Of course, he doesn’t compare to some of the stronger, five-star cryo-DPS, especially since Genshin Impact’s Ayaka and Genshin Impact’s Ganyu are two of the strongest damage dealers in the game. He can also struggle to beat his main competitor, Genshin Impact’s Rosaria, when it comes to general attack and her synergy with melting teams.

However, he’s still an extremely useful unit, providing a significant amount of energy through his ascensions, affordable build options, and more. In addition, he is smooth, handsome and charming. What’s not to love?

What Are The Best Genshin Kaeya Weapons?

As a sub-DPS, the rankings for his best weapons depend heavily on his artifacts, team compositions, buffs, and more. To get a full rundown on all the different weapons and which one is best for your build, check out the Keqingmain’s Kaeya guide or to get all the technical information, enter your statistics through the Genshin Optimizer.

However, for a more general selection, here are our recommendations. Mistsplitter Reforged is the best weapon for Kaeya’s personal damage in the right circumstances, although without Chongyun it can be difficult to get stacks for his passive attack. It’s also highly contentious and could be better used for other characters.

Freedom Sworn is another great option, especially in reverse melt teams, due to its basic mastery stats. It also provides a valuable team buff that will come in handy as long as Kaeya is the one provoking reactions. If you’re struggling to meet the energy recharge requirements, Skyward Blade is a good choice due to its high ER boost, which allows you to perform more offensive artifacts.

When it comes to four-star options, The Black Sword is a good crit stat stick, though his passive is relatively useless to sub-DPS Kaeya. Alternatively, The Alley Flash or Lion’s Roar are great for reverse melt teams.

Weapon Effect
Fog splitter re-forged Basic Stats: CRIT damage
Skill: greceive a 12% elemental damage bonus for all elements and receive the power of the Mistsplitter’s Emblem. At stack levels 1/2/3, Mistsplitter’s Emblem provides an 8/16/28% elemental damage bonus to the wearer’s elemental type. The user gains one stack of Mistsplitter’s Emblem when a normal attack deals elemental damage (stack lasts five seconds), after casting an elemental burst (stack lasts ten seconds), and when their energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when their energy is full ). The duration of each stack is calculated independently
Freedom sworn Basic Stats: Elemental mastery
Skill: Increases damage by 10%. When the wielder activates an elemental reaction, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion. This effect can be activated every 0.5 seconds, even if the character is not on the field. When they own two sigils, both are consumed and all party members nearby gain ‘Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance’ for 12 seconds, which increases normal, charged, and splashing attack damage by 16% and attack by 20%. Once this effect is activated, you will not get a sigil for 20 seconds. Buffs of the same type do not stack
Skyward sheet Basic Stats: Charging energy

What Are The Best Genshin Kaeya Artifacts?

In a freeze team, Blizzard Strayer is hands down the best option for Kaeya. It provides a nice boost to his Cryo damage and pushes his crit rate even higher, which pairs perfectly with the Cryo resonance bonus.

However, if you want to put him in something other than a freeze team (i.e. reverse melt, or a team that doesn’t rely on melting or freezing), a full set of Emblem of Severed Fate pulls ahead of the pack, providing a boost for energy recharge and burst damage.

Alternatively, combining two pieces of Blizzard Strayer with two pieces of Noblesse Oblige is a flexible option if you’re struggling to get a full set with decent stats.

Artifact set Effect
Blizzard Strayer

Two equipped: 15% Cryo damage bonus

Four equipped: Crit rate is increased by 20% when attacking an enemy affected by Cryo. If the enemy is frozen, the critical hit percentage is increased by another 20%

Emblem of the cut fate

Two equipped: recharge energy +20%

Four equipped: increases elemental burst damage by 25% of the energy charge. You can get up to 75% bonus damage this way

Noble obligation Two equipped: Elemental burst damage is increased by 20%
Four equipped: Using an Elemental Burst increases the ATK of all party members by 20% for 12 seconds. This effect cannot be stacked.
