We all love a good city building game, and it seems mining is all the rage, so why is it taking so long for someone to combine the two? Well, great news for architecture and caving fans everywhere, as publisher Thunderful has announced that developer The Station is hard at work on SteamWorld Build, an exciting new installment in the SteamWorld franchise. So when is the SteamWorld Build release date?

Described as “Anno meets Dungeon Keeper,” the upcoming SteamWorld Build title features all the charm, polish, and talking robots of previous SteamWorld entries like Dig, Heist, and Quest. This time, however, players control a city full of SteamBots, searching a barren wasteland in a busy city, managing resources and completing tasks along the way.

That’s not all though, as SteamWorld Build gives players an even deeper set of tasks as you also manage a mine shaft, balancing the resources and goals of both aboveground and underground to build the robotic city of your dreams. Developer The Station revealed the first images during the SteamWorld Telegraph presentation and also confirmed that the game is heading to the Nintendo Switch.

SteamWorld Build is expected to release for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, and PC. Currently the SteamWorld Build release date has a vague window of “later in 2023”although fans can expect more on the title soon.
