A man from Gujarat duped IAS officers and army officers by posing as a senior official of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Kashmir. Due to which the Jammu and Kashmir administration and army officials have been put in a shameful position. A man named Kiran Patel pretended to be a fake PMO officer and enjoyed Z-plus security, bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio, accommodation in five-star hotels. He also held meetings with IAS officers during his two visits to Srinagar earlier in the year.
Kiran Patel, who identified himself as Additional Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, was arrested around 10 days ago, but the police kept the details of his arrest secret. The matter came to light after a magistrate sent him to judicial custody on Thursday. It is not yet clear whether the FIR was registered on the day of his arrest or there was some delay in registration.
This thug made his first visit to Kashmir in February. He visited a health resort. There are many videos of him visiting various places with paramilitary and police security. He is seen walking through the snow at Dudhpathri in Budgam along with paramilitary personnel.

In a photo, he is also seen with army personnel near the clock tower at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. According to sources, Kiran Patel also held meetings with local officials to discuss bringing more tourists from Gujarat and making Dudhpathri a major tourist destination.
Kiran Patel came under suspicion after his second visit to Srinagar in two weeks. Intelligence agencies alerted the police about an impostor going around with the identity of a PMO official. After verifying his background, the police were asked to arrest the man from a hotel in Srinagar.
Sources said action has been initiated against the two police officers for dereliction of duty and failure to nab the impostor in time. A team of Gujarat Police has also joined the investigation.
